I Think I’m Becoming Sociable

Does time fly, or what? It’s already been two weeks since I landed in sunny California (and boy has it been sunny, at least down here in Palo Alto). Work at Tello has been about as good as can be. Despite a little bit of let’s-haze-the-intern (reversing the batteries in my mouse—real hilarious guys), I [...]

I’ve had a great first two weeks of TEC, and I’m doing my best to try to absorb all the information being thrown at me every day. True has brought in six fantastic sets of speakers for us to engage with, and I loved every single one.  I have been writing down all the snippets [...]

SaveUp Has a New Home

The second week at SaveUp ended with an office move.  It doesn’t sound like a big deal but moving to a new office, even with a team of 8 takes a lot of work!  I saw first hand the administrative nightmare involved with relocating workspaces.  Internet, phones, furniture, appliances, subleasing, moving. There is a lot [...]

“EVERYDAY I’M HUSTLIN” Another week, another round of some awesome guest speakers at TEC and learning experiences at Kiip. The most important thing I’ve learned so far? It’s that while ideas are important, they are worthless without proper execution. In TEC, we finished this book called Founders at Work – a collection of interviews with [...]

Week 2: Building Momentum

Written by: In: Summer 2011

20 Jun 2011

It’s Week 2, and I already feel at home. My apartment in Berkeley is now comfortably furnished with beds, chairs, pots, pans, lamps, and the like, with my proudest addition being a wonderful coffee table we found in a dumpster diving expedition. I bought an A-Series Razor scooter for $28 (aka the kind built for [...]

A focus on learning

Having worked at a leprosy center in India, spent two summers doing research at the National Institutes of Health, and interned at a manufacturing and energy consulting company in China, I have experienced a range of internship environments that have offered different learning opportunities. The “internship” is often an ill-defined concept.  It can involve pushing [...]

“The most important thing in life is to stop saying ‘I wish’ and start saying ‘I will.’ Consider nothing impossible, then treat the possibilites as probabilities.” — David Copperfield My name is Jenny Li, and I’m from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I study business and pre-med at the University of Michigan, and I am working as the [...]

This week, we were honored to hear from the prophet (Om Malik), the inventor (Steve Jang), and the three musketeers (Brian Wong, Courtney Guertin, and Amadeus Demarzi). Okay, so maybe the titles aren’t exactly fitting, since all of them are prophets, inventors, and hilarious, but they seemed to fit relatively well. After Om, the prophet, spoke about [...]

My name is Lionel and I’m a senior at Stanford majoring in Management Science & Engineering (also playing around with the idea of staying another year to get a CS double major or masters). I joined TEC because I thought it was the best way for me to learn the most practical skills to start [...]

Rock, Paper, Scissors

18 Jun 2011

I have a theory that I can beat anyone I meet in one game of rock, paper, scissors. Or if I don’t beat them, at the very least I won’t lose. I had a chance to put this theory to the test last Thursday while waiting for ice cream after an incredible day at True [...]
