Last week, the TEC… lings made a trip to GigaOm’s Structure conference.  The conference hosted some of the major players in the IT industry that are shaping the future of the internet.  Despite being in the 4th year of the conference, the topic of security lingered as one of the primary themes.  How can you [...]

Navigating the Gray Area

Time is flying here in San Francisco. I think part of the reason is that things are happening so quickly here at Kiip HQ-lots and lots of stuff happening on the daily. There’s this great quote from US General George Patton on taking action that Alex Bard, the CEO of Assistly, pointed out a few [...]

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” – Antoine de Saint Exupéry I have had many dreams, goals, and wishes growing up.  In elementary school, I wanted to be president. In middle school, I wanted to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, or all of the above. In high school, I wanted to start [...]

Play dumb, acquire knowledge

I didn’t really know much about cloud computing, so I was expecting last week’s Structure Conference to be somewhat uninteresting for me. But I was pleasantly surprised. It ended up being much more fun than I had expected, for one reason: before I came in to the conference center, I decided my primary goal was [...]

I spent this week in San Francisco learning more than I thought possible. Working at BrightRoll, I’ve been exposed to a ton of new technologies. I’ve come to be really impressed with Ruby/Rails, I learned how easy it is to make a browser extension, and much more. BrightRoll’s engineers have been awesome on this front. [...]

This week was kind of different from the others because on Thursday, we attended the GigaOm Structure conference instead of going to the True office for a speaker series. The conference was held in the Mission Bay Conference Center on the campus of UCSF, and the floors were packed with company booths, which were packed [...]

There are some people who leave the womb with an irrepressible urge to start their conquest for world domination. Paul Gu, one of my closest friends, is a perfect example. He took his first practice SAT while still in diapers and aced it (though to be fair, he was already in 8th grade and they [...]

I attended a yacht party this Thursday for a sunset cruise of celebration. Of all the places an intern could be 2 weeks into an internship (office cubicle comes to mind), I was pleasantly surprised to find myself on a boat. Right place, right time. The company I’m working at, Socialcast, recently got acquired by [...]

Party like It’s 1999

It’s hard to believe that two weeks have passed by already. The time here seems to simultaneously fly away and stagnant. At bloomspot, I’m wrapped up in anywhere from 4 to 6 independent projects at one time, with Friday surprisingly being the busiest day for everyone. Between expanding to an office that was formerly an [...]

Today, I had the honor of attending Structure 2011, the cloud-based conference hosted by GigaOM at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco – an amazing conference that, hopefully, I will be able to attend again in future years. I heard a number of very interesting quotes over the course of the day, and [...]
