Falling Through the Data Clouds!

We are now more than half way through with the TEC 2010 program heading into the final stretch with only 3 weeks left.  Week 4 was amazing, with the climax of the week being jumping out of an airplane at 13,000 feet with fellow interns, JP and Amelia (Amelia’s friend, Zach, came along for the fun as well).  It was my first jump, and I must say…it was a blast.  I am planning on going again when I am back in Boston, except next time I am going to go through the course so I can jump by myself (no tandem).

In other TEC festivities, Thursday’s line up of speakers was simply put, amazing.  Playing with David Merrill’s invention, siftables was really neat and I am really excited to see how the product develops in the coming months.  I was also really happy to listen to Jeff Veen, founder of Typekit, talk about his background as an awesome designer.  I thought his presentation was really insightful and I am a huge fan of how Typekit is revolutionizing the way we can use fonts on the internet.  As a matter of fact, I am now a Typekit user as I signed up for a “portfolio” membership over the weekend and implemented Typekit on my site at http://www.thesiteslinger.com .

Last week was a relaxed week at BrightRoll and I spent most of my time focused on completing a competitive benchmarking research assignment.  This coming week is the BrightRoll sales conference where pretty much the whole company flies into San Francisco and partakes in many different meetings, parties, gatherings, etc.  I am excited to meet the rest of the BrightRoll team, and I am sure the office is going to be pretty busy this week so it should be fun.

Looking forward to the coming week, I am going to be attending a few different entrepreneur type meet-ups which should be really fun.  The interns are also planning a trip to Yosemite which should be amazing.  Continuing with the extreme sport trend, I have also found a place to try my luck with hang gliding so I am going to be hooking that up as well before this experience is over!  It’s going to be awesome.

WOW! Looks like a blast! I been wanting to go skydiving myself. If you never jump you’ll never fall. Startups are like skydiving, take the risk to be free and fly but be prepared to land for it comes faster than you think. Never forget to use your feet! You can walk in either direction that you choose.

I sky dove about two and half years ago, it sure was an amazing experience. My girlfriend won’t let me do it again though :P
