Jacob here again to fill everyone on my recent escapades and deep thoughts. I can’t promise the latter, but here’s what I’ve been up to: At Voxpop, I’m taking on more responsibility. I’d say it’s hit and miss. While sometimes I’m completing tasks correctly (10/10) other times I’m more like a 4/10 on the ‘intern success-o-meter’. If you want the [...]

Week three was just as exciting as the first two and I am amazed at how fast this program is flying by us.  Before we know it, we will all be going our separate ways in less than 5 weeks.   Because our time in San Francisco with True Ventures is going by so quickly, I [...]

I can’t believe how quickly time has passed this summer! Things have been really picking up lately in my work on the Android application. In addition to coding sprints and testing with actual hardware, I have been meeting with the guys at Valencell to mockup and storyboard the UI features and design. It has been [...]

On June 23, 2010, Spectrum Bridge and Google announced that they have created the first ever Smart Grid deployment over white space, a wireless network utilizing TV White Spaces spectrum. This spectrum is unused TV broadcast channels from the recent switch of analog to digital TV.  Made possible by partnering with Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative [...]

Jared Kim who created WeGame is a true entrepreneur. His story convinced me that you are born an entrepreneur. His story of being a top golfer in China, then dropping it, starting a business, dropping that, and then coming up with an idea, getting a term sheet after uttering one phrase, and then getting an [...]

I am joining the True Ventures TEC corps from Philadelphia, my hometown. I started interning with a sales and marketing automation website called Loopfuse based in Atlanta. Thus far the experience has been extremely interesting to say the least. On the first day I jumped on conference calls and started shaping the direction of several [...]

I am now in my second week at SendMe Mobile and I have thoroughly enjoyed doing anything and everything I could to make myself useful here. It wasn’t hard to do, because SendMe Mobile’s revenues are totally marketing driven through what Kwedit CEO Danny Shader calls indirect sales. This means that everything I do at [...]

Hello, TEC readers.  I blogged last week about my early interest in entrepreneurship; this week, I’ll be talking about what I’ve been doing at Assistly. Assistly is a customer support platform that allows companies to streamline all channels of customer interaction — traditional channels like email and phone, but also newer channels like Twitter and [...]

I’ve been working on some really interesting stuff at Valencell; including learning and understanding their special protocol and API to interface with the Health Set hardware. The original goal of the project was just for me to port the existing functionality of their Windows Mobile application to the Android platform. Things have been progressing very [...]

Having the opportunity of Interning at Spectrum Bridge has made me more eager to start a career in marketing/advertising. Technology consumes everything that is apart of our daily lives. It is what wakes us in the morning, keeps us connected with others during the day and protects us at night. Learning more about what if [...]
